A legacy behind us, a horizon ahead

Growing up in Grantham, the town famous for Margaret Thatcher, it was impossible not to have a vague interest in politics from an early age. It wasn't until an application was made to reopen an old quarry on the outside of my village that I realised in order to make a difference you have to stand up and be counted.

In the years since, I have continued to look ways to play my part and effect change - whether that was through being a school governor, as a charitable trustee, 25 years as a voluntary sports group chairman or in an elected role as a Councillor. I have grown as a person and my skills have grown equally.

One day I hope to have the change to work towards better things on a national scale. Until then, I'll continue to say yes when opportunities come knocking.

xx
